Vitamin E is extremely important for the muscular action of the horse. A deficiency can easily occur in cold weather, with a change in feed and during pregnancy. Vitamin E affects performance and endurance as well as contributing to the well being of the horse. Vitamin E also increases blood supply to the muscles. Ensiled hay often contains less vitamin E as the acids used in the ensiling process break down the vitamin.
