RS Mustang® Electrolytes are essential for the transmission of nerve impulses and therefore for muscle function in horses. When the horse sweats, it loses electrolytes. To maintain an optimal fluid balance in the body and to enable the horse to perform well, those electrolytes need to be replaced. If the horse has diarrhoea, it will also lose electrolytes. Electrolytes are salts which include sodium, potassium and chloride. 2.5 kg Dose Horses and ponies After light work 20–30 g/day After hard work 50–60 g/day The dose can be increased if the horse has sweated heavily. Mix with hard feed. You may need to introduce the electrolytes slowly to allow the horse to become accustomed to them. It is important that the horse has free access to water.
